I have no idea what your mornings are like in your household, but in mine, it used to be as if it was my child's first time getting ready to leave the house, even as a 6th grader. Yes, we've made to-do lists, set timers, and on the not-so-awesome side, have had many morning fights. Diffusing essential oils has totally changed the way our mornings go.
One of the best ways to use your essential oils is through a cold-water diffuser. A few drops of oil with water in a diffuser can easily fill (not overpower) a room, and the emotional benefits are noticeable.
I diffuse in my household every morning. My child still needs some cues in the morning, like, 'you have to be in the shower now' and 'we are leaving the house in 5 minutes', but I'm much calmer and he stays on task better than before. For the most part, mornings are much more peaceful and productive, (except for the day after Halloween, damn sugar). Nobody wants to drop their kid off at school late or after a fight. So here for you I have compiled a list of diffuser combos for mornings, whether it be just for you or the whole fam.
Stress Away, Nutmeg and Cinnamon Bark
I had found this combo in a graphic for diffuser ideas for fall and was diffusing the "pumpkin pie" scent in the evening. First, my son went to bed without being told it was bedtime. Next, my boyfriend was shutting off the TV a couple hours earlier than usual saying it was time for bed. The environment of our home was totally calm and peaceful. There was still about half left in the diffuser the next morning. Not wanting to waste my precious oils, I diffused it. Our morning getting ready was pure bliss AND my son had a fantastic day at school. Get this combo in your rotation now! You can vary your ratios, but I do 4 drops Stress Away, 3 drops Nutmeg and 2 drops Cinnamon Bark.
Clary Sage
I was doing an space clearing session on my home when this essential oil came up as something I should be diffusing. I know many women like to use this to help with mood during that time of the month, so why would my home need this? When looking at it's uses, I learned that Clary Sage is supposed to be very calming. Turns out it is very calming. The smell is very pleasant and definitely sets the stage for a relaxing, yet productive morning. I recommend starting out with 2-3 drops and working your way up to 4-6.
Gathering
This blend literally was intended to "help us overcome the bombardment of chaotic energy..." in our lives. For real, if mornings (or anytime of day for that matter) are chaotic for you, I definitely recommend trying this blend. I recommend diffusing 1-2 drops to begin and working your way up to 4-6 as needed.
Citrus Fresh
This blend combines the aromas of citrus fruits with spearmint. The combination is aromatically pleasing but also beneficial to the mind. Research indicates citrus fragrance may help improve cognitive thinking. Who couldn't use a boost of that in the morning? Start by diffusing 2-3 drops and increasing to 4-8 drops.
Thieves and Purification
This one may not help you be more on task or help you keep your cool when your child is still brushing his teeth and you were supposed to be in the car 3 minutes ago. It does, however, help support a healthy immune system. Which is awesome for anytime you leave the house. Try diffusing a couple drops each, then working your way up to 5 drops Thieves and 7 drops Purification.
