While energy healing is a spiritual practice, many are unsure if it aligns with their religious beliefs.
Before we dive into our discussion, let's first become more familiar with energy healing itself.
What Is Energy Healing?
Energy healing is the process of releasing or clearing stuck, stagnant, non-beneficial, and low vibrating energy to improve outcomes for the recipient. Everything is energy and energy is everything. You're energy, I'm energy, water is energy. Even a wall is energy (albeit very slow moving, but energy nonetheless). Everything has an energetic frequency, and it can be measured. When something is not functioning at its ideal frequency, we typically see issues arise, like discord at work or home, strained relationships (including with ourselves), unhealthy behaviors, poor health, and so on.
Energy healing releases what no longer benefits us to help us move forward and experience more of what we desire. The end-result is beneficial to all aspects of the mind, body, and spirit. While removing non-beneficial energy helps improve frequency, it is not always the final step in energy healing. It is common to infuse desirable energy (think love, joy, prosperity, abundance) during an energy healing session to reach an ideal frequency for optimal well-being. Energy healing is a spiritual practice as archangels, spirit guides, and other spiritual helpers often assist during energy healing sessions. It is a connection with universal energy.
My Introduction to Energy Healing
Energy healing came into my life at a desperate time for our family. There is no doubt in my mind it was our prayers being answered. The work resulted in such quick, positive change for us that I thanked God for bringing this into our lives and prayed to learn energy healing to be able to help myself and others. Again, these prayers were answered, and the tools and training I needed to learn this amazing skill became readily available.
I believe that each of us has this dream team of spiritual helpers to guide and support us. Archangels, spirit guides, and other spiritual beings are more than willing to support us when we ask for their help. Certainly we can ask for spiritual guidance through prayer and meditation, but also by consciously tapping into our energetic needs.
Each energy healing session is different. Different guides come forward, sometimes one, sometimes many depending on the issues being addressed and the needs of recipient. For myself, my family, and many others who have had energy healing, it is a comforting, relieving, and loving experience.
I'm a Christian
I am a Christian, and I am an energy healer. I often talk with God, and realizing we have other spiritual helpers, too, was like icing on the cake. I love that my faith and my abilities have allowed me to become more aware of what's going on- we have a whole team of spiritual beings here to support us, and we can use energy healing to enhance our spiritual connection to overcome issues of the mind, body, and spirit. My strong faith has grown even stronger.
Facing Rejection
A short time ago an individual approached me to let me know the work I was doing was controversial and against their religion. I was very confused. First, this individual had never talked to me about what I do. Secondly, we have the same religion. I started thinking about why they would think energy healing goes against God, and if this person thinks this, do other people think this, too?
Everyone I have met through energy healing are spiritual beings who believe in God, even if by other names such as Source, Higher Power, Universe, Mother Earth. I then thought about when in my Christian upbringing did they teach us energy healing was bad? or that helping others was bad? or that helping yourself was bad? I actually don't ever recall my Church discussing energy healing at all. If this was against my religion, then why did God give it to me? If this was against my religion, why do I feel more spiritually connected than ever before? Why do I feel more empowered than ever before? Why do I find it easier to talk to God, Jesus Christ, archangels, and spirit guides more than ever before?
As time has passed, what I actually do notice is how much energy, spirituality, and interconnectedness are themes during worship and sermons. Maybe these were always the themes, but now I have more clarity and a better understanding. Perhaps the messages being shared with us are simply interpreted based on our current experiences and knowledge.
What the Bible Says
There are scriptures recognizing healing as a divine gift (even psychic abilities for that matter).
1 Corinthians 12: 6-10
6 There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.
7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.
8 To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit,
9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit,
10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues.
1 Corinthians 12: 27-28
27 Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.
28 And God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues.
So Is It Against My Religion or Not?
The truth is, I can't tell you if energy healing is against your religion or not. Only you can truly make the decision for yourself. I believe I invited God and my faith to play a much larger role in my life, and healing is my divine gift that is meant to be shared, not hidden or abandoned. I don't know that all of us get to realize what our divine gifts are and how we're supposed to share them with others during our lifetime. We all have the opportunity to discover our gifts, but not all of us realize our personal power or take the time to explore and understand our gifts. I now know what my gift is. Energy healing has strengthened my faith, made me more aware and self-aware, and has supported me to help many people, animals, and places. For this I feel forever grateful.
