Being Ahead of the Curve: A Blessing and a Challenge

curved roadway

One of my defining traits is being ahead of the curve. I’ve always been able to recognize or embrace things before they gain popularity—a gift that was confirmed by an activated gate in my Human Design chart.

If you’re unfamiliar, Human Design is a bit like astrology, but it simplifies the complexities of a chart, like a roadmap for understanding yourself. As one of my clients put it, “It makes it easier to digest.”

Being ahead of the curve can feel isolating at times. You have big ideas, see what the future holds, and embrace new things long before they become mainstream. I don’t strive to be trendy or cool—I’m here to expand the joy, success, and satisfaction in your life by sharing my gifts and my discoveries.

My Journey with Essential Oils

Years ago, I started using essential oils. I was fascinated by the science—terms like sesquiterpenes, monoterpenes, and endocrine disruptors piqued my curiosity and how these essential oils could clean and reprogram our cells. Back then, we held classes to share knowledge and connect with like-minded individuals.

This passion wasn’t just theoretical. My son struggled with asthma-like symptoms and was even prescribed an inhaler at one point. When I removed synthetic fragrances from our home and started using essential oils, those symptoms vanished. We experienced other benefits, too: reduced allergies, better sleep, less stress, and a general sense of well-being. I even prevented an oncoming yeast infection after being prescribed two rounds of antibiotics. Yes, I am serious.

Yet, outside the supportive environment of my classes, I was often met with skepticism. With some individuals, I would share my successes only to be dismissed with comments like, “Snake oil!” or, “I don’t believe in that stuff.”

It was disheartening. I wanted to share the positive impact these changes had on our lives, but instead, I found myself defending my choices. (Also, I had never previously heard the term snake oil before. What timeline am in??)

Staying Quiet When It’s Easier

I remember one instance vividly: a Facebook friend posted about her son needing another allergy medication. She was also selling Scentsy, a product full of artificial fragrances. I knew the connection but didn’t say anything—she hadn’t asked for my opinion, and I didn’t want to criticize her livelihood.

Now, a decade later, people are finally starting to pay attention. Concerns about toxic chemicals in food, cleaning products, and household items are becoming more widespread. And while I’m glad to see this shift, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t feel a bit bitter.

Ten years is a long time to wait for others to catch up.

The Challenge of Being Ahead of the Curve

If you’ve ever been ahead of the curve, you know it can feel lonely. Whether it’s adopting new habits, embracing unconventional ideas, or seeing possibilities others can’t yet imagine, it often feels like you’re speaking a different language. You might hear phrases like, “That’s weird,” or, “Why bother?” when all you’re trying to do is share something that’s helped you.

It’s easy to question yourself in these moments. Am I doing too much? Should I wait for others to catch on? But here’s what I’ve learned: being ahead of the curve means you’re a pioneer. It takes courage to stand firm in your beliefs, even when it feels like no one is listening. And no matter the resistance you encounter, always shine your light.

Finding Strength and Connection

So, how do we deal with it? First, find your people. Surround yourself with those who get it—people who value your insights and encourage you to keep going. Second, remember that change takes time. Not everyone will understand right away, but that doesn’t diminish the value of what you’re sharing.

It's also important to remember that just because someone disagrees with your idea doesn't mean they're against you. Differing opinions can be valuable - they challenge you to look deeper into what you believe and why. Sometimes, they even help you strengthen your perspective or recognize areas where you might need to shift your thinking. Growth often comes from exploring opposing views and deciding what truly aligns with your values.

And most importantly, give yourself grace. Being ahead of the curve isn’t about being perfect or always “right.” It’s about trusting your instincts and staying open to new opportunities. When the world eventually catches up, you’ll be the one leading the way, ready to make an even bigger impact.

Trusting the Timing

This journey has taught me that being ahead of the curve requires patience and confidence. I’ve had to remind myself that my insights and passions have immense value—even if they aren’t always recognized right away.

I share this because I see a similar trajectory with energy healing. Right now, it might seem “out there” to some of you. Maybe you have yet to experience energy healing for yourself. But just like with essential oils, I know energy healing has the power to transform lives.

I’m here to guide you, to help you identify what’s no longer serving you, and to introduce you to something better. I’m here to create more joy, success, and satisfaction in your life.

So if you’re ready to explore what’s possible, I’m here to support you.
