Essential Oils for Self Love

Updated: Jan 15, 2021

We put others before us. We put our jobs before our needs. We worry ourselves over what others think of us. We commit ourselves to our devices and binge-watching hours of TV. We don't make time to be out in nature, to feed our bodies with good food, or to get physical activity. We lose interest in learning new things. We don't ground ourselves through silence and meditation. Too often we forget to love on ourselves, and it's often because of certain beliefs we hold.

Putting myself first is selfish.

If I focus on me, everything around me will fall apart.

I don't deserve to be happy.

I am greedy for wanting to spend time and money on myself.

I'm not going to try because I'll probably fail.

I'm not worthy of being loved.

Do any of these beliefs resonate with you? I remember holding some of these beliefs at different times in my life. When we believe things like these, it's nearly impossible to experience joy, wellness and abundance like we were meant to. Learning about energy work and deciding to provide this service for others, I quickly learned the importance of taking care of myself and loving myself so I can be the best lightworker I can be.

Practicing Self-Love

Self-love is nourishing our minds, bodies, and spirits. It's accepting who we are, flaws and all. Self-love is being open to good things happening to us. It's being self-aware and recognizing our worth. It's feeding ourselves with goodness on all levels.

Self-love can take practice, especially if it is new to you. Essential oils are a great resource to help you along the way. They have a profound effect on our emotions and even our energy fields. These essential oil blends can help you pursue your self-love by addressing specific needs.

Using Essential Oils Safely

If this will be your first experience using the oils, shorten your diffusing time to about 10 minutes, just once a day to acclimate yourself and gradually increase to the recommended usage. Also limit yourself to applying 1 drop topically, then gradually increasing to no more than 4 drops as needed.

You can use Young Living's V-6 enhanced vegetable oil complex to dilute, or you can also use extra virgin olive oil, grapeseed oil, coconut oil, or other carrier oils. Diluting the oil will not decrease it's effectiveness. It will however reduce the chance of experiencing any skin sensitivities and will extend the life of your oils.

Some of these blends contain citrus oils that may be photosensitive. If you will be spending time in the sun, avoid applying to exposed skin or diffuse instead.

What to Expect

When you first begin using these blends, it is possible you might experience a release of emotion, like tears. This does not happen to everyone, but it can. They are simply clearing out those old beliefs to make room for something better.

Also experiment with the different suggested uses. You might find you notice more benefit from diffusing versus applying topically or the other way around. You might also find that applying topically to certain areas provides more benefit. Experiment to see which methods you prefer.

You may notice benefit immediately and sometimes it may take several days or weeks to get where you want to be. Give yourself time and patience to allow these powerful oils to go to work for you. Read When Essential Oils Don't Work
